New Tandem Mill
After fusion of the steel producers in Arbed, Aceralia and Usinor. Arcelor made a strategic decisions about the production capacities of beams and beam blanks in Luxembourg. Therefore, a new Hot Rolling Mill was built on the site of Esch-sur-Alzette.
Semi finished products of the existing steel plant with electrical arc furnace will be transported by roller tables to the walking beam furnace of the new line. The material will be heated up and rolled in 3 rolling mills (breakdown, tandem and finish mill stand). After cooling, the products will be levelled and cutted in different lengths according to the demand of the customer and delivered by truck, or train.
